Using the Outside Key Frame Segment Infinity Cycle Feature

This section describes how to efficiently create animation data using the outside key frame segment infinity cycle feature.

Area Outside the Key Frame Segment

Area Outside the Key Frame Segment
The term 'area outside the key frame segment' refers to one of two areas: the frame area that has time values prior to the first key frame (that is, the key frame with the lowest time value) or the frame area that has time values larger than the last key frame (that is, the key frame with the largest time value) (A).
Usually a curve is not defined for the area outside the key frame segment.
LayoutEditor has a feature to automatically calculate the curve for the area outside the key frame segment.

Creating Data That Uses the Outside Key Frame Segment Infinity Cycle Feature

First, load a sample layout. Load $(LayoutEditor_Root)/sample/layout_anim/tutorial/infinitycycle.rlyt by selecting File > Open > All. (The final layout is stored in $(LayoutEditor_Root)/sample/layout_anim/tutorial/infinitycycle_fin.rlyt.)

Opening the Sample File
You can confirm the layout for which panes are arranged. Pane SRT animation has been set for the panes.
Pane animation moves at a slow 1000-frame cycle.
Consider the instance of adding an animation that changes pane size every 30 frames cycle to this animation.

Creating a Size Animation of 30 Frames

First, create a size animation of 30 frames. Next, select Set after key frame segment > Repeat.
(At this time, verify that the size animation attribute is selected (A). The Set after the key frame segment command is applied to the selected curve.)

Repeat Outside Segment
A semi-transparent curve should have be drawn to repeat the same shape of the created curve for frames after the final frame.
If the display does not change, verify that View > Render area outside key frame segment is checked.

Try actually playing the animation. You can confirm that animation is being performed in accordance with the automatically calculated curve.

Wii Console Animation

Previewing Data That Uses the Outside Key Frame Segment Infinity Cycle Feature on the Wii Console

Data that uses the outside key frame segment infinity cycle feature can be previewed on the Wii Console as usual.
Selecting Tools > Transfer to Viewer will display the animation created for the Wii Console Viewer.

When transferring data to the Wii Console Viewer, the tool performs processing that automatically generates key frames for parts repeating outside the segment.
This processing is referred to as baking to key frames of the curve outside the segment.
Baking can be turned on and off using Edit > Set Tool Environment.

Note that there is no support for loading rlan files output for baking back into LayoutEditor and re-editing them.

Outputting Binary Data That Uses the Outside Key Frame Segment Infinity Cycle Feature

Binary output can be performed as usual even with data created using the outside key frame segment infinity cycle feature.
Selecting File > Export Binary will output a binary file.
Baking to key frames can also be controlled when using Export Binary.
